about

Formed in celestial hatred for the furtherance of bitter existence, Vanagandr stands in defiance to dogmatic faiths, monotheism, and the corruption of intellect by narcissism, over-indulgence and the trappings of human egotism. Drawing inspiration from Norse and Greek paganism, this one-man project hails from the United States as a bastion for powerful black metal in the style of the old ones.

Logr is the band's creator and sole-contributor as of this writing. His past projects include the demonic black metal band Internment, black/thrash project Thoth Nemesis and experimental art metal band Artists of War. Vanagandr searches for spiritual continuation of the ideas put forth in those previous works. As one struggles to exist in an increasingly alienating society that moves further from the source of musical power that was once held in rock n roll, where but in the tales and myths of ancient wolves, vampyres and warlords is one to find solace?

The riffs put forth on the bands debut, Born of Sorcery, are filled with vitriol, chaos, and beauty. A wall of guitars churns out notes that pour forth as magma from a once dormant volcano. There is an ecstasy on display here as cacophony gives way to melody in a furious storm of vengeance for the ruinous nature of mankind. Cities burn and empires fall to make way for a new world of frost and forest.

The vinyl version of the album features a new track previously omitted from the Bandcamp release titled “Ethereal Winds” and an all new mix and master.
